Guest Chef Appearances Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the guest chef appearances held at Market District^®?
Market District^® guest chef appearances are held at the Demonstration Kitchens, near the meat and seafood departments at each store.

How is the event set up?
The event setup varies at each store, based on the size of the space. However, for most cooking demonstrations, there will be seating for 50-100 customers, with standing room for an additional 100 to 400 customers. For autograph signings, customers will be lined up in an area roped-off for the event. Additional large-screen televisions and audio equipment are brought in so that as many customers as possible can see and hear the show.

How do I order a ticket online?
Visit our events page. On the left side of the page, click on your Market District^® location. This will take you to the events listings for that store. Scroll down the page until you find the information for the event. Click the “Register Now” button. This will link you to the ticket registration page on EventBrite.com. There, you can follow the ordering instructions to reserve your ticket.

If tickets are not yet available, you will see the “Ticket On Sale” date listed under the event.

What if I don’t have access to a computer, can I reserve a ticket in the store?
Yes, while we encourage you to reserve your tickets online, you can also reserve a ticket inside the store by visiting the Concierge Desk near the front of the Produce Department at each location. We will put your name on the guest list and reserve a standing-room ticket for you, as long as space is available.

Is it possible for guest chef appearances to sell out?
Yes. Tickets are first-come, first-serve and spaces fill up fast! We accommodate as many guests as possible in standing-room space, but you must have a ticket for the autograph session.

When/Where do I pick up my ticket?
Where: The Concierge Desk near the front of the Produce Department at your Market District^® location.

When: The day of the event, from 9:00 a.m. until 15 minutes before the start time (unless otherwise noted). PLEASE NOTE: If you do not pick up your tickets by 15 minutes prior to the start time of the appearance, your ticket will be forfeited.

What to bring: Please be sure to enter a valid email address when you register for your tickets online. An automatic email will be sent to you, containing a ticket voucher. Please print the ticket voucher and bring it to the Concierge Desk to pick up your tickets. HOWEVER, the ticket voucher is optional. Once you register online, your name and number of tickets will be captured on our guest list. If you do not have the print-out, we will ask to see a photo ID to verify your ticket reservation.

Ticket Rules
The tickets for guest chef appearances are for seating priority and the autograph session after the demonstration.

We cannot guarantee an opportunity to receive an autograph, but will do everything we can to accommodate all customers.

Limit 2 tickets per customer.

What types of guests can I expect to see at Market District^®?
At Market District^®, we welcome local restaurant chefs, nutrition experts, cookbook authors, and local and national food celebrities to host live cooking demonstrations and autograph signings.

What should I expect to happen during an event?
The content of each appearance varies. Most guest chefs prepare 3-5 of their own recipes in a live cooking demonstration, and Market District^® provides samples of the recipes to the audience. Audience members also receive a recipe packet to take home. An autograph or book signing follows most appearances.

How many people attend guest chef appearances?
The number of customers that we can accommodate varies each store, based on the size of the space. However, for most cooking demonstrations, there will be seating for 50-100 guests, with standing room for an additional 100 to 400 guests.

What items will guest chefs autograph?
Market District^® provides FREE, full-color, 8x10” autograph sheets for most celebrities. Also, if the guest chef has written a cookbook, the book will be available for purchase at Market District^® the day of the appearance. Some guest chefs have special limitations on what they will sign including memorabilia and certain book titles; when in place, Market District^® is obligated to honor those limitations.

How old do you have to be to attend a guest chef appearance?
Guest chef appearances are family-oriented and we welcome customers of all ages to attend.

How much do the appearances cost?
Guest chef appearances at Market District^® are FREE of charge.

When are appearances held?
Most guest chef appearances are held on Saturday afternoons, but some appearances occur on weeknights.

How long are the appearances?
Cooking demonstrations last approximately 30-45 minutes. Autograph sessions last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Actual event duration may vary.

Do I need to register in advance?
Yes, to ensure a spot in the autograph line you must register in advance. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What is the ticket cancellation policy?
By Customer: At any time, you may send a substitute in your place.

By Market District^®: Market District^® may cancel an appearance due to unforeseen circumstance. Customers will be notified 48 hours before an appearance is scheduled to begin.

By Guest Chef: If a guest chef cancels an appearance at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, Market District® will make every effort to reschedule. If the appearance cannot be rescheduled, customers will be notified.

What happens when an appearance is canceled due to inclement weather?
If an appearance needs to be canceled due to safety concerns because of bad weather, customers will be notified by email at least two hours prior to the start of the appearance. Market District^® will make every effort to reschedule the appearance. If the appearance cannot be rescheduled, customers will be notified.

Do you provide sign language interpreters for Market District^® events?
