Pure Homemade Goodness
Back to basics is where our bakery team went when they decided to create a line of cookies that captured the essence of their grandmothers’ recipes. Simple, authentic, made-from-scratch cookies with ingredients you can pronounce in these classic varieties:
- Chocolate Chip
- Oatmeal
- Sugar
- Peanut Butter
- Double Chocolate Chip
Starting with two to three recipes for each, our meticulous bakers noted opportunities like using all-natural ingredients, butter rather than shortening, honey instead of corn syrup, pure Madagascar vanilla, and premium Callebaut chocolate. They then made the recipes in our Shadyside location, carefully adjusted them to meet our baking environment and equipment — after all, we wouldn’t be baking a couple of dozen, but hundreds!
Next came the taste testing to determine favorites — and there was no shortage of volunteers. Both the bakery and the Market District
® teams were front and center, quicker than you can beat an egg. The finalists were then handed off to our Quality Assurance team to conduct a blind in-store taste test comparing our new cookies to other national premium brands…the results? Our new homemade cookies won out time and again according to you, our customers — our very toughest cookies!
