French Cheese — Live and Let Brie
French artisan cheese ranges from light and fresh to bold and blue: the deliciously fresh chèvres of the Loire Valley region to the more pronounced Roquefort from the southern regions with its bold and tangy flavor.
Our cheesemongers take great pride in our selection of signature French cheeses, including those hand-picked by Patty on her cheese travels to France.
Italian Cheese — Let Your Appetite Rome
The Italians are great lovers of food — and cheese. Their prestigious cheese labeling system (Denominazione di Origine Controllata or DOC) guarantees the authenticity of cheese origin, production, and quality for cheeses that meet its strict standards. Fewer than 30 cheeses carry this superior label.
Parmigiano-Reggiano — the most famous DOC cheese — is 100% natural and made simply from three ingredients: unpasteurized cow's milk, salt and rennet. Yet, it is one of the most fabulous cheeses you will ever taste — complex and deep with hints of nuts, fruit and butter. Look for our hand-selected, imported Market District
® Parmigiano-Reggiano along with Italian classics like Provolone, Asiago, Mozzarella, Gorganzola and Pecorino Romano when you visit our cheese department.
Spanish Cheese — Get Your Goat!
Spain proudly claims some of the world's finest sheep and goat milk cheeses. Once rare in the U.S., they are now popular and readily available — especially in our cheese department. Here you'll find the most famous Spanish cheese, Manchego, easily recognizable by its signature etched, inedible rind, firm texture and zesty flavor. You'll also find other exciting Spanish cheeses including Idiazábal, Mahon and Murcia al Vino.
British Cheese — A Stay at the Stilton
The finest artisan British cheeses include heralded varieties like authentic English Stilton and Welsh Tintern Cheddar, made with a passion matched only by the Brits themselves. Hop on board — the cheeseboard, that is — and explore the rich history of English cheesemaking — one pasture-perfect, milk-mastered wheel at a time.
CHEESE TIP
Remove cheese from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before serving to allow it to reach its full flavor potential.
